131 municipalities in 6 countries have benefited from CoE ROMACT Programme
59 municipalities in Romania and 30 municipalities in Bulgaria have benefited from the Council of Europe ROMACT Programme in the latest phase of implementation from 2014 until September 2018. In total 131 municipalities in Hungary, Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria have successfully launched and implemented the ROMACT process in the past five years.
ROMACT seeks to assist mayors and municipal authorities to work together with local Roma communities to develop policies and public services that are inclusive of all, including Roma.
ROMACT aims to improve the responsiveness and accountability of local authorities, particularly elected and senior civil servants, towards marginalised Roma communities. It focuses on generating long-term sustained political commitment which are designed compel member states to sustainable measures for Roma inclusion.
The ROMACT programme is a joint programme of the European Commission and the Council of Europe.
