The term “Roma and Travellers” is used at the Council of Europe to encompass the wide diversity of the groups covered by the work of the Council of Europe in this field including Roma, Sinti/Manush, Calé, Kaale, Romanichals, Boyash/Rudari, Balkan Egyptians (Egyptians and Ashkali), Eastern groups (Dom, Lom and Abdal), groups such as Travellers, Yenish, and the populations designated under the administrative term “Gens du voyage”, as well as persons who identify themselves as Gypsies.

Call for participation: 5th Dosta!-Congress Prize for municipalities

The 2015 edition of the Dosta!-Congress Prize is now launched and the call for application has started! Every municipality and city from the Council of Europe’s 47 member states is eligible to submit an application form.

This bi-annual prize is awarded by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities to municipalities and cities that show an exceptional effort in including Roma. It seeks to highlight municipalities that have implemented innovative and creative initiatives to effectively ensure the long-term integration of Roma and Traveller communities within their borders, while respecting the diversity of these communities and ensuring their active participation in democratic life.

Applications must be submitted using the application form available online. The deadline for submission of applications is 30th June 2015.
