Alliance 2nd national workshop in Spain to discuss access to European Structural Funds, Madrid, 28 May 2014
The European Alliance of Cities and Regions for Roma Inclusion held its 2nd Spanish national on 28 May 2014 in Madrid to discuss improved access of local and regional authorities to European structural and investments funds.
This event was organised in cooperation with the Spanish Ministry for Health, Social Services and Equality, the City of Madrid and the Fundación Secretariado Gitano. It gathered over 60 participants, amongst whom representatives of national ministries and of 24 Spanish cities and urban communities. Manuel LEZERTUA, Director of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, presented the Roma related activities of the Congress and those of the Alliance.
Spanish local and regional authorities have been from the very beginning very active in promoting the Alliance concept following the Summit of Mayors for Roma inclusion organised by the Congress in 2011. Spanish Alliance participating cities and regions are so far: Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, El Prat de Llobregat, Malaga, Seville, Donostia-San Sebastián, and Vigo.
