The Serbian City of Kragujevac joins the Alliance

EU Delegation to the Republic of Serbia

The City of Kragujevac in Serbia has become the 122nd participant to the European Alliance of Cities and Regions for Roma Inclusion. In his letter of accession to Congress President Herwig van Staa, Veroljub Stevanovic, mayor of Kraguvjevac, pointed that his municipality is “eager to cooperate and learn from others”, and that he is “convinced that the participation in the European Alliance of Cities and Regions for Roma Inclusion would bring new quality to the activities of his municipality in this field”. The City of Kragujevac has actively promoted Roma inclusion at local level in previous years, including the first local action strategy for enhancing Roma education in Serbia.

Kragujevac, which is the fourth largest Serbian city with more than 180,000 inhabitants, was the first capital of modern Serbia.
